Project Overview: In late 2023, our team at M4RT was commissioned to undertake a full heating system upgrade at a residential property in Coleshill, Birmingham. The client’s objective was to remove their existing gas combi boiler and transition to a modern, fully electric heating solution. With solar PV already installed on the roof, they aimed to make the most of off-peak electricity tariffs, increase energy efficiency, and achieve complete room-by-room heating control for comfort and savings.
Client Brief:
Remove and decommission existing gas combi boiler.
Install a fully electric heating and hot water system.
Maximise use of solar PV and off-peak electricity.
Implement zoned heating in every room.
Replace all existing radiators with modern, high-efficiency models.
Solution Implemented:
To meet the brief, we designed and installed a high-performance, future-proof heating and hot water system combining:
Tepeo ZEB (Zero Emission Boiler):
Acts as a thermal battery, charging during off-peak hours and providing space heating throughout the day.
Perfectly suited for time-of-use tariffs and works seamlessly with solar PV input.
Mixergy Smart Hot Water Cylinder:
Learns usage patterns to heat only what’s needed, saving energy and money.
Prioritises solar PV usage and can be controlled remotely via app.
MyEnergi Eddi Power Diverter:
Diverts surplus solar electricity to the Mixergy cylinder for water heating.
Maximises on-site renewable energy use and reduces grid dependency.
Room-by-Room Smart Zoning:
Every room fitted with a smart thermostat and TMV (thermostatic motorised valve), allowing independent control and scheduling.
Improves comfort and significantly reduces energy waste.
New Radiator Installation:
All old radiators removed and replaced with modern, efficient models matched to the heat profile of each room.
Ensures optimal heat distribution for the new low-carbon system.
Outcome:
The customer now enjoys:
